Creating a Virtual Culture

There is no doubt that the employment market is changing.“Working from home” arrangements in the UK are becoming mainstream, flexible working arrangements are becoming the norm rather than a“perk” and freelance or contract workers, hired to fix problems, are becoming increasingly frequent.

But in a world where “employee engagement” is high on the list of HR priorities, we wonder what effect this trend will have on workplace culture and loyalty. How can employers ensure that their people not only deliver a consistent brand experience, but also that they remain true to their values, code of conduct and operational ethics when they are working on a temporary or “from home” basis?

In Q3 2014, New Chapter Consulting conducted research into the flexible and temporary employment workforce within the UK in order to ascertain the levels of engagement, involvement and ultimately satisfaction that flexible workers have with their employment arrangements.
